During the past nine seasons, since the arrival of head coach Sonny Lubick,
Colorado State has established itself as one of the nation's premier football
programs. The Rams' success is also reflected in a distinct home field
advantage that exists at Hughes Stadium, the home of the Rams.
Since Lubick's arrival in 1993, Colorado State has won
nearly 75 percent of the team's home games. The stadium has played host
to some of the greatest games in school history, and national and regional
television telecasts take place at nearly every home game.
The stadium lies at the base of the foothills of the
Rocky Mountains, about two miles west of the main campus area and in one
of the most scenic settings to be found anywhere.
Never in school has history had excitement been higher
than during Sonny Lubick's tenure in Fort Collins. During his reign in
Fort Collins, Lubick has guided the Rams to 34 victories on the natural
grass playing field at Hughes Stadium.
