History: Well, it’s a game show that’s not a game show. It’s improvisation taken to another level. It’s variety entertainment at its simplest but most diverse form. Hell, it’s just plain funny. “Whose Line?” originated in England as a radio program, hosted by a British lawyer named Clive Anderson. The concept of a show about improvisation became a quick hit and the program was swiftly moved into the more challenging medium of television. After a successful ten-year run under Anderson’s reign, “Whose Line” moved overseas to the United States. It was given a new network (the American Broadcasting Company) and a new host (actor/comedian Drew Carey), but kept the same type of set and stuck with many of the same comedians—- in particular, Ryan Stiles (now the co-executive producer), Colin Mochrie, Chip Esten and Greg Proops, among others-— from the British version.
