Apr. 22, 1950, Kent, England) has seen the up and down side of success more often than most performers. A singer-songwriter who also happens to be an exceptionally skilled lead guitarist, Frampton achieved the success of a lifetime with his 1976 live album Frampton Comes Alive. Frampton did many things: He took four years off and played with David Bowie and Chris Spedding; he recorded two albums for Atlantic; and, finally, he recorded again with Steve Marriott immediately prior to the latter's accidental death in 1991. Only two of the resulting tracks have surfaced so far, on an A&M Frampton compilation called Shine On, and they show Frampton and Marriott to be able, compatible, and obviously willing collaborators.
